In the NFL, Brittany and Patrick Mahomes are quite the power couple. While they’ve always attracted attention as a pair, in 2023, Brittany got a new wave of followers for her quickly developing friendship with pop star Taylor Swift. Swift is romantically linked to Patrick’s teammate, Travis Kelce, and she and Brittany have been buddying up in the VIP box during Kansas City Chief games this fall.

Who is Brittany Mahomes?
Born Brittany Matthews in Aug. 31, 1995, in Whitehouse, Texas, Brittany is an athlete in her own right. In college, she was a soccer star, and she then grew her own company, Brittany Lynne Fitness, which runs programs for clients with guided workouts. She went on to found the Kansas City Current as an expansion team in the National Women’s Soccer League in 2021, co-owning it with her husband.
She currently has over 1.4 million followers on Instagram, so she is something of an influencer, too, with affiliate links in her profile that often lead to sold-out clothes. People want to wear what Brittany and her kids do.
In February 2024, she was named a 2024 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue rookie and was featured in the 60th anniversary issue, which hit shelves in May.
“I’m truly just so humbled and still in disbelief,” Brittany told SI Swimsuit. “As a girl from Tyler, Texas, who only really knew sports, never in a million years did I think I’d be in [the SI Swimsuit Issue]. I’m just so grateful for this opportunity.”
How did Brittany and Patrick Mahomes meet?
The couple have been together since 2012, after meeting in high school. Brittany has shared how she knew he was someone she wanted to be with.
“He brought this little Valentine’s gift for me at lunch one day. It was like a heart-like card and said, ‘Happy Valentine’s Day,’ and like a rose or something,” she said. “And he just brought it to me as a funny joke, but I thought it was the cutest thing in the world. Everyone in the cafeteria started chanting like, ‘Kiss her, kiss her’ to him and I was like, ‘I’m doing this,’ and then from then on, I think that’s where I just kind of started getting a crush on him. Then boom, we just fell in love.”
They announced their engagement in 2020, after Patrick proposed to her in a VIP box at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. The moment came just a day after the team received their Super Bowl 54 rings as well as the day after Brittany’s 25th birthday.
Once again, flowers were a big part of their special moment. A marquee of white blooms and lights spelled out, “Will You Marry Me.”
Brittany shared a pic of the display in her Stories at the time, adding, “This happened today.”

Later, they shared a picture of the engagement ring, an emerald-cut diamond on a double band with the caption, “Ring SZN.”

To celebrate their engagement, the couple shared a private candlelit dinner, but she offered a glimpse of the table to her followers.
“My heart is so full,” Brittany wrote over the photo. “Couldn’t imagine this day being any more perfect!”
The pair was married on March 12, 2022, in Hawaii. Their ceremony was with family and close friends.
Do Patrick and Brittany Matthews have any children?
Less than a month after the proposal, they announced they were expecting their first child. They welcomed their daughter, Sterling Skye, in February 2021.
Their son, Bronze, was born in November 2022.
And their second daughter, Golden Raye, arrived on Jan. 12, 2025.
Swift reportedly gave Brittany a “handmade baby blanket” gift for Golden Raye’s birth.
“Taylor is so looking forward to meeting Brittany and Patrick’s baby girl and she couldn’t be more thrilled for her friends,” an insider told Page Six. “Taylor’s aunt knitted her a baby blanket when she was a child so it’s always had a special meaning for her and something she wanted to do for her friends.”
The singer “did the same thing” for Kansas City Chiefs WAG Chariah Gordon and Mecole Hardman Jr. after they welcomed a baby in 2024.
“It’s become a tradition for Taylor, something she loves doing and something that can’t be bought. It comes from the heart,” the insider explained.
When did Brittany announce her third pregnancy with Golden?
Brittany and Patrick shared news they were expanding their family on July 12. They shared an Instagram video featuring them and their children revealing news of her third pregnancy. “Round three, here we come 🤍,” they wrote.
On July 19, Brittany shared a Reel on Instagram showing scenes from the new baby’s gender reveal, which included help from their oldest daughter Sterling.
The couple used a large tic tac toe set and let Sterling turn the tiles to see if she’ll be meeting a “little sis” or “little bro.”
Eventually, she got three pink Xs in a row. Pink smoke and confetti rose into the air.
On Christmas 2024, Netflix posted a clip on X, formerly known as Twitter, where Patrick revealed that Brittany was due “any day now.”
“Brittany says I’ve been stressing her out too much this season,” Patrick admitted. “So I got to try to not put so much stress on her through these football games.”
He added that he is hoping that the baby arrives “on a bye week” when he’s not playing, “and then everything will work out perfectly.”
In another clip shared by Sports Center on Christmas day, he told reporters, “I told my pregnant wife I was gonna get her the number one seed so we can go have that baby. So we got that number one seed.”
Brittany welcomed Golden on January 12, during Patrick’s bye week.
What is Brittany’s relationship with Taylor Swift like?
A source told Daily Mail in late October 2023 that the two women hit it off fast and were becoming friends outside of NFL game day, too. “[They] are working on building their relationship, so when people see their handshake and doing the girly girl thing, it’s exactly what people close to them expect to happen,” the source said. “They aren’t embarrassed by it.”
“Taylor and Brittany will hang out in the future,” the source continued. “There has been talk that after the season is done that Brittany and Patrick will see one of her shows overseas. Although their friendship is mostly at the stadium, slowly but surely they are going to be doing double dates and hanging out with each other more and more.”
On Tuesday, November 7, Mahomes went “Instagram official” with her Swift friendship, sharing a pic of them together on her Instagram grid.
On Jan. 18, 2024, Us Weekly shared more intel on the ladies’ friendship.
“Taylor and Brittany have grown even closer over the past several months. They have a really genuine friendship and love hanging out at the games together and cheering on their men,” the source said. “Brittany loves that Taylor is dating Travis, and she’s so supportive of their relationship. They have a very similar sense of humor and are always cracking jokes and laughing.”
The insider added that Swift “didn’t become friends with [Mahomes] just because she’s dating Travis. Even if things didn’t work out between Taylor and Travis, Taylor feels like her friendship with Brittany would continue no matter what.”
What does Brittany think of Swift’s squad?
Brittany was photographed out in New York City with Swift, Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, Cara Delevingne, and Sophie Turner on Saturday, November 4. A source told Us Weekly days later that Brittany really likes Swift’s friends.
“Brittany is having a blast hanging out with Taylor and her friends,” the source said on November 7. “She loves making new friends and loves how down-to-earth Sophie, Gigi, Selena and Cara all are. [She] hopes to continue growing her friendship with this amazing group of women.”

Does Brittany have an issue with the attention Swift gets at games?
Swift has attended dozens of Chief games, and some fans of the NFL have an issue with attention that the superstar gets while in the stands. But Brittany is not one of them. The influencer reposted a comment from TNT personality Charles Barkley, who said to Gayle King this weekend, “I’m gonna look right in that camera, if you’re screaming at Taylor Swift saying she ruined [football,] you’re just a loser.”
He added, “You’re just a loser or a jackass.”
Brittany wrote over the statement in her Instagram Stories, “Let. Them. Know.”
She and Swift arrived at the M&T Bank Stadium together on Jan. 28, 2024, where the Chiefs took the victory against the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship.

Brittany shared wedding photos on Instagram with a simple caption to Patrick. She wrote, “Happy Anniversary to my forever♾️🤍”

Has she been to an Eras Tour show?
On July 6, 2024, Brittany and Patrick were seen at Taylor Swift’s concert in Amsterdam. They were making a stop amid a fun European family vacation. The couple was seen in a VIP suite with Travis Kelce at the Johan Cruijff Arena. The Mahomes danced and sang along to the music.
In a video on X, the group can be seen enjoying themselves. Brittany also shared her own clips from the night on her Instagram Stories.

On December 19, Brittany shared a carousel of pics from Swift’s Eras Tour wrap party, thrown by Kelce in Kansas City. On Friday, February 7, Brittany and Patrick joined Swift and Kelce at the French restaurant Lilette in New Orleans ahead of the big Super Bowl game on February 9. The Chiefs are facing off against the Philadelphia Eagles and playing for a third consecutive title.
